NAMIBIA HOSTS the 2016 Hunting Rifle World Championships

Hunting rifle shooters from across the globe flocked to Namibia for the bi-annual Hunting Rifle World Championships in June. The venue for the 2016 event was Heja Lodge, a hunting farm, private reserve and events venue about 25 km from the capital Windhoek. Any country wishing to host the World Championships must first convince the international body that they can do si in the true spirit of hunting rifle shooting – and from that perspective, the choice of venue was excellent.
LONG RANGE OPEN DAY

Unexpected morning fog at the start of the Long Range Open Day at Gecko Rock, near Touwsrivier, Western Cape, provided an opportunity for old friends to swop shooting stories, and new shooters to cut their teeth on all manner of exciting ideas. A warm ‘kuier vuur,’ coffee and rusks helped to warm shooters while we waited, in windless conditions, for the fog to burn away.
Champs go off with a bang

By the time the dust of more than 53 000 shots had settled and scores were tallied, Ian van der Bank of TDPC emerged as the overall winner and champion of this year’s International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) Africa Champs held at Magnum United Shooting Club in Pretoria recently.
